Book Reviews! (For When You Don’t Know What To Read)
By Rosemary Breen (2-9-24)
Dystopian Fiction
First off, The Hunger Games, the most iconic series when you think of dystopian fiction. A book about a girl with a bow who starts a revolution. You can also read the prequel, The Ballot of Songbirds and Snakes, but be sure to read the original series first!
Another good book series is the Maze Runner series which consists of 5 books about a maze and how it was built.
Fantasy
One of the best series of all time (in my opinion) with about 9 books is called Keeper of The Lost Cities and is about a world of elves and other creatures with powers. This book could also fall into the category of mystery because of its many plot twists.
Harry Potter is another classic but it's not for everyone. For those of you who don’t know, it's about witches and wizards and a boy named Harry Potter who with his friends tries to defeat an evil wizard named Voldemort. Will he succeed? You’ll have to read it to find out.
Mystery
Holes— this book might be a little too low of a reading level but it’s still worth a read. The book is about a kid who goes to a camp because he was accused of committing crime and he has to dig holes.
One of Us is Lying-- a series of 3 murder mystery books by Karen M. McManis which is extremely good. You can also check out some other books by the same author.
Realistic Fiction
Echo is a really good 3 part book with three separate characters who all use the same lucky harmonica. I would say more but I don’t want to spoil it.
